A PRACTICAL SOLVING METHOD
How to solve a logic-grid puzzle
Work from certainty to elimination. Do not guess when the clues can narrow the grid for you.
- 01
Mark direct matches first
If a clue says Mira collected at 4:00 PM, mark that match. Then cross 4:00 PM out for every other maker.
- 02
Carry each match across categories
The 4:00 PM pickup used Amber Speckle. Once Mira is at 4:00 PM, Mira must also have Amber Speckle.
- 03
Read order words precisely
“Immediately before” means the next listed position. “Earlier than” may leave one or more positions between the items.
- 04
Use the tightest row
When a row has only two open options, test both against existing matches and order clues. The next deduction often starts there.
- 05
Verify every clue at the end
Confirm that each value appears exactly once and that all nine clues fit your completed grid.
Show the free sample’s complete answer and reasoning
Mira has the 4:00 PM pickup and Amber Speckle. Felix is at 3:20 PM, followed by Cloud White at 3:40 PM. Owen is adjacent to the 3:20 PM slot, so he could initially be at 3:00 or 3:40. Because Owen has River Blue, he cannot occupy the Cloud White slot and must be at 3:00 PM. That leaves Etta at 3:40 PM with Cloud White, and Moss Green for Felix.
| Maker | Pickup | Glaze |
|---|---|---|
| Etta | 3:40 PM | Cloud White |
| Felix | 3:20 PM | Moss Green |
| Mira | 4:00 PM | Amber Speckle |
| Owen | 3:00 PM | River Blue |
